§ SERVICE / FLATWORK
A driveway that still holds its line after ten winters.
§ 01 / THE BRIEF
It is the first thing anyone sees and it takes the worst of a South Dakota freeze. We place it to grade, joint it where it wants to move, and broom-finish it to drain clean and grip through the winter.
§ HOW IT LASTS
You park on it and from the curb it looks like nothing. That is the point. A driveway only stays boring when the base was compacted right and the joints were cut before the slab picked its own place to crack.
- Base
- Cut and compacted flat in lifts before a single yard is poured, so it never settles into a crack.
- Mix
- Air-entrained for freeze and thaw and placed to fall, so water runs off instead of ponding and lifting the slab.
- Finish
- Broom-finished for grip, then jointed where it wants to move so it cracks on a straight hidden line, not a jagged one.
